The App is designed so that you remain in full control of your data at all times. The information below summarizes how your data is collected, stored, used, and shared.

2. What Data the App Collects

2.1. Data You Record

The App may collect the following, stored locally unless you enable Vault Sync:

• Photos
• Videos
• Audio clips
• Metadata you add manually (titles, tags, notes)

2.2. Local Technical Data (Required for Functionality)

• Device model and OS version
• Storage availability
• App version
• Basic diagnostic information

This data is processed locally and is not shared unless Vault Sync is enabled.

2.3. Cryptographic Data

To ensure authenticity and tamper protection, the App generates:

• Local file hashes (SHA-256 or equivalent)
• Event logs
• Epistemic metadata
• Optional encrypted payloads for Vault Sync

All cryptographic material remains local unless uploaded to Vault.

2.4. Optional Vault Account Data

If you activate Pro and enable Vault Sync, the App may process:

• Your Vault account ID (email or internal ID)
• Encrypted uploads of your recordings
• Entitlement validation (purchase state)

Vault receives only encrypted payloads; we cannot view your files.

3. Permissions and Why They Are Needed

Camera

Used to capture photos and videos. The App never records without your explicit action.

Microphone

Used to capture audio and audio tracks in video recordings.

Storage / Media Access

Used to save, read, and manage your recordings locally.

Internet (Optional)

Used only when:

• Syncing to Vault (Pro users)
• Validating Pro purchase
• Retrieving account information

The App does not send recordings or metadata unless you enable Vault Sync.

4. How Your Data Is Stored

Local Storage

By default, all recordings are stored only on your device. They remain there until you delete them.

Vault Storage (Optional)

If enabled:

• Files are encrypted end-to-end before leaving the device.
• Vault cannot decrypt your recordings.
• You may delete your data from Vault at any time.

5. How Your Data Is Used

We use your data only for:

• Providing core recording functionality
• Providing optional Vault Sync
• Ensuring data authenticity
• App diagnostics and debugging (non-personal)
• Validating Pro entitlements

We never sell your data. We never use your recordings for advertising. We never view your content.

6. When Data Is Shared

We do not share your data with third parties except:

Your encrypted uploads are sent to Epistemic Vault servers.

6.2. Billing Providers

Google Play may receive purchase and subscription information for Pro entitlement.

6.3. Legal Obligations

We may disclose limited account information only if required by law, and only if we hold such information (we do not hold or see your recordings).

7. Data Retention and Deletion

Local Data

You may delete recordings at any time using system tools or the App.

Vault Data

You may delete Vault content using:

• In-app controls
• Web portal
• Written request

Once deleted, encrypted data is removed from active systems.

8. Children

The App is not designed for children under 13 and should not be used by them. We do not knowingly collect data from children.

• No third-party analytics by default

10. Changes to This Policy
